I've been reading a collection of different British authors and have found for the most part, I like them, but sometimes the slang used in the stories is a bit much. I did not find that with the dialogue in Carole Singer's Christmas. I did notice, however, some of the traits of the characters were a bit over accentuated. Almost to the point of wishing I could jump inside the pages of the book and throttle someone. While admittedly frustrating, the desire to keep reading was just too overwhelming as I found myself not wanting to put the book down to see if Carole would do it for me.When you are a romance reader like myself, you pretty much have seen it all. Carole Singer's Christmas by Emily Harvale took that concept to a whole other level. I am used to odd pairings, jilted lovers, right one but wrong time, triangle relationships and everything else you could think of, but one woman and three guys? A little hard to believe, even for me.
I knew almost instantly where I wanted this book to go. Any woman in today's modern world would also feel the same way. I am glad to see that Ms. Harvale agreed. While inwardly, I would have kicked two of Carole's options to the curb instantly, it was nice to see Carole grow a backbone and come to the realization on her own. Overall I thought the story wasn't bad. I would have liked to see an epilogue to get a bit more closure with some of the ancillary characters.

I preserved and read the entire book, but had several thoughts of giving up. It's a nice easy read, about the lead character and the choice she must make between three men who are all in love with her. There were really no surprises, and I felt the story lacked depth.
Just re read this after buying the book earlier in the year. As close to a perfect chick lit novel as you can get. Balance of chemistry, pace of the book and storyline are great. If you love English chick lit read this book.
Wonderful story , being set in England with all the traditions that I love. A great story of finding the right person , even though there are more than one to choose from. Families coming back together and a new beginning in your old home town. Some time going back home can bring such happiness. Well written. Have already bought my next book by Emily Harvale
Emily did a super job on this book as usual. I enjoyed it very much. The theme of this book was a little different than the others. The story line revolved around the holidays, which brings people and families together. The family is like everyone's dream of the way to spend the holidays. Keep the books coming, I love them.
The whole book focuses on which of three men she should choose. Her current boyfriend, the guy that dumped her, or the garden center owner her grandmother likes. Her criteria seems to only be which one kisses better. Nothing about how they treat her or any more substantial criteria. The whole thing gets boring. Then her mother shows up seemly instantly transformed back to her old motherly self after years of depression and flakiness. Very little about Christmas. Read Trisha Ashley if an English Christmas fantasy is your desire.
The book had potential to be much better than it actually was. I was disappointed with the family drama and a relationship that was so clearly wrong prior to the other two men being introduced into the story. The prior relationship was over for so many years that was so unrealistic and the newer male character introduced was a great character. I think it would have been best to have kept the story to the present relationship and the newer male character versus adding a third into it. A totally unrealistic book. Better holiday reads recommended.
Emily Harvale has done it again - kept me from doing all the things I should have been doing today, as I could not put this book down! I loved it - you usually get a love triangle, but this was a quadrangle. Of course right in the beginning you know who you want the heroine to pick, and thank goodness she does make the right choice. Carole Singer is torn between her current boyfriend, her old love who jilted her at the altar 10 years earlier, and a guy she has just met. It is set in December, and has really put me into the Christmas spirit. Well done Emily - another fantastic read.
