I just finished reading this book. For those of us who like to read about complete unadulterated submission, this will absolutely tickle your southward fancy. Personally, I need a story to show a tiny bit of submission or maybe compromise on the part of the Dominant male showing a love or gratitude for the submission on the part of the sub female. Golly I never knew I thought that much about it. Somebody get me a therapist while I on a roll. Anyway I would like a bit more affection in a story to really get my socks flapping up-and-down. I'm glad I read it though and I recommend it to those of us who like monster erotic reads and sub/dom/punish/pain/maso/menage. Ehem!...I gave it 5 stars because the book delivers well. It's not the book it's just me.

I love Kitty Thomas. She's about as taboo as they come. This one broke the bounds of most of her work and worked on a scifi/paranormal level but it WORKS. Hot, taboo, dark...everything that makes her books great. 5 easy stars!
The author has a good way of keeping you interested. The build up is strong. The material / sexual content is strong and graphic, which I love. But the ending is quick and falls flat. Would love to see this as a full feature book. Tell us what happens next to Belle and Lily.
I read quite a bit of erotica and try to select the books for not only hot sex, but for a well written story. The premise for this book (novella really) intrigued me. I had a tough time getting through the elementary writing. Other than that, the story idea was great. It was an okay short read. Perhaps had the book been fleshed out more it would not have had such a choppy form.
I'm impressed with myself, I normally don't like these stories, but this one is great, well written and quite smitten!! Great story Kitty!!
I especially like how it showed the learning curve the process both Master and slave go thru melding together and finding WHT each of you needs from the other the process of understanding and the pleasure found in surrender .
Definitely erotic and very imaginative, The Auction is a short novella and really only whets the appetite for a more extensive read. I would have liked to explore the deepening emotional ties between the main characters, as well as the world, society, and culture that they live in. Alas, the story was over before it really began. I did enjoy it, however. Thomas is a competent writer and I look forward to reading more of her novels.
I enjoyed the book and honestly couldn't complain. For about $3 I entertained myself one "I can't seem to fall asleep" nights and I enjoyed it well enough. My only complaint is why is this so short? Sure the story line was pretty standard but the uniqueness in the world was breathtaking and could have been so much more. I found myself so interested in learning more about theirs lives, their customs, and the world around them but I got so very little of that. I'm normally all for shorter books. I'm happier with a story that's to the point and not just out stretched to be outstretched but this book wasn't even a tiniest bit stretched out.

All in all good read and not a waste of money if you're looking to fill a lazy afternoon. Though be expected to afterwards wish you had so much more than what you've been given.
