The Unlikelies Carrie Firestone Books
My only wish is that this book had been longer!! I loved diving into the summer before senior year in high school with a group of very real (they have libidos) and very interesting (their hobbies!) and very diverse (the main character is Scotch-Persian) and very aware (of the what the world needs more of) and very very unlikely friends! Carrie Firestone brings each character to life, and takes us along to various locations from Manhattan to the tip of Long Island. My recommendation would be that this book is appropriate for 14 year olds (and up -- this reviewer is 70 years old!). There were even characters in my age range -- fabulous grandmothers.Tags : Amazon.com: The Unlikelies (9780316382861): Carrie Firestone: Books,Carrie Firestone,The Unlikelies,Little, Brown Books for Young Readers,0316382868,Humorous - General,Romance - General,Social Themes - Class Differences,Friendship,Friendship in adolescence,Friendship;Fiction.,Hamptons (N.Y.),Heroes,Heroes;Fiction.,Summer,Summer;Fiction.,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),Fiction-Humorous,JUVENILE,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 10-12 Ages 15+,TEEN'S FICTION ROMANCE,United States,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Coming of Age,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Diversity & Multicultural,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Girls & Women,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Humorous General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Law & Crime,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Class Differences,Young Adult FictionComing of Age,Young Adult FictionDiversity & Multicultural,Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionHumorous - General,Young Adult FictionLaw & Crime,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Class Differences, beach reads; beach books; summer romance; friendship; ya books about friendship; ya romance; contemporary romance; ya contemporary; young adult contemporary; books for teens; books for teen girls; romance; bullying; books about bullying; ya books about bullying; choose kind; cyber-bullying; morality; ya social media books; ya books about drugs; drug use; addiction; dealing with addiction; good Samaritan, good samaritan; friendship; romance; morality; addiction; beach reads; beach books; summer romance; ya books about friendship; ya romance; contemporary romance; ya contemporary; young adult contemporary; books for teens; books for teen girls; bullying; books about bullying; ya books about bullying; choose kind; cyber-bullying; ya social media books; ya books about drugs; drug use; dealing with addiction,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Coming of Age,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Diversity & Multicultural,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Girls & Women,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Humorous General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Law & Crime,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Class Differences,Young Adult FictionComing of Age,Young Adult FictionDiversity & Multicultural,Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionHumorous - General,Young Adult FictionLaw & Crime,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Class Differences,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12)
The Unlikelies Carrie Firestone Books Reviews
An important story about figuring out how to do the right thing. #kindness
A very sweet and easy summer read.
Once again Firestone has hit it out of the park with a combination of plot and characters. It is a serious mistake to label her work as YA as the deep philosophical undertones of all her work reaches out to us at any age. Looking forward to her next book. She has become a stalwart on my list of favorite writers ... a very selective list indeed. thank you.
This book is so good. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it at first, but I wound up loving it. Likeable characters and a unique, feel good plot. It’s a fun read!
I devoured Carrie Firestone's debut novel, The Loose Ends List, and I enjoyed The Unlikelies just as much! Firestone has a gift for balancing REALLY heavy topics with quality family time and coming-of-age angst, as well as first love. This is a book that takes on bullying and it's a nice perspective on how kindness can be infused into every action, no matter how heroic or how simple. It's a book all teens should read because kindness matters. Highly, highly recommend.
I devoured Carrie Lenarcic Firestone's newest book, "The Unlikelies" in a matter of days. I found myself sobbing through the end not because it was sad, because the reminder that each of us can make a difference in our world resonated so deeply within me. This may be a "YA" book but trust me, buy it, read it, remind yourselves that one small act of kindness can create ripples within another's life that you may never see. "You're One Of Us Now." -The Unlikelies.... thank you Carrie! ❤️
Another great book from this author. I found the story and characters to be very endearing. The main character Sadie thinks she will have a boring summer at home after junior year of high school while all her friends go off to do other things. Something unexpected changes her summer and her outlook on life. The book has such a good message of being kind and doing good in the world, starting in your own community. I think middle school girls will really enjoy reading this book and will find inspiration to become a hometown hero in some way.
